University of St Andrews Press Release, 22 August
2003
The University has further strengthened its links with
Scottish Enterprise (SE) Fife with the appointment of Principal and
Vice-Chancellor Dr Brian Lang to their board.
Dr Lang has a wealth of experience gained from working in
senior positions with a range of organisations.
Over the last 23 years, his posts have included Chief
Executive and Deputy Chairman of the British Library; Director of Public
Affairs for the National Trust, and Secretary of the National Heritage Memorial
Fund.
He was educated at Edinburgh University and has both an MA
and PhD in Social Anthropology.
Dr Lang said: The links between the University and
Scottish Enterprise Fife are already very strong but my appointment to the
board underlines our determination to make an even more significant
contribution to the Fife economy.
Fred Bowden, Chairman of SE Fife, said, We are
delighted that Dr Lang has agreed to join the board. His experience speaks for
itself and I am confident the board, SE Fife, St Andrews and Fife as a whole
will benefit from his experience.
His experience will be particularly important as we
continue to work on the industry-led St Andrews World Class project which aims
to capitalise on the reputation of the town to bring greater prosperity to the
area. more St Andrews World Class
