St Andrews Links green fees announced

The Citizen, 13 October 2000

Following the Links Management Committee’s annual review, new green fees for the six St Andrews Links courses will come into operation on April 1, 2001.

A single round on the Old Course in the high season (April 1 to October 31, 2001) will be £85 (up from £80) and the high season green fees for the New Course will rise from £40 to £42 (adult) and from £20 to £21 (under 16s).

For the Jubilee Course the fees will rise from £35 to £37 (adult) and from £17 to £18 (under 16s).

Fees for the Eden Course will rise from £25 to £26 (adult) and from £12 to £14 (under 16s), and for the Strathtyrum will increase from £17 to £18 (adult) and from £8 to £9 (under 16s).

The fees will also rise on the Balgove from £7 to £10 (adult) and from £2 to £3 (under 16s).

“The new green fees take account of inflation and the cost of our continued drive to improve the condition of the courses and the standard of facilities at St Andrews,” said Alistair Nicoll, chairman of the Links Management Committee.

High season period tickets for all courses except the Old will rise from £87 to £95 for an adult for three days and from £180 to £190 for seven days.

The under-16s prices will be £47 (from £43) for three days and £95 (from £90) for seven days. Prices for high season-period tickets for the Balgove Course only will stay the same - £18 (adult) and £5 (under 16s) for the three-day ticket and £36 (adult) and £10 (under 16s) for seven days.

“For the year 2000 / 2001, yearly tickets were held at the previous year’s level to take account of the disruption to play caused by the Open Championship course closures,” explained Alistair Nicoll, chairman of the LMC.

“The Committee has decided to apply the inflation rate which has occurred over the last two years, 4.5 per cent, to bring yearly tickets back in line.”

A full adult resident ticket will rise to £103 (from £98) and the restricted ticket for all courses except the Old will rise to £84 (from £80). These prices will also apply to students at the University of St Andrews while, for youth residents (16-18 years old), the full ticket will be £29 (from £28) and restricted will be £25 (from £24).

A full senior resident will rise to £86 (from £82) and the restricted will rise to £43 (from £41).

The ticket for the Strathtyrum and Balgove Courses only for residents of St Andrews will be £31 (from £30). For North East Fife adult residents, the full ticket will be £206 (from £196) and the restricted ticket will be £168 (from £160). The Junior North East Fife restricted ticket will be £25 (from £24).

The five-day restricted ticket for seniors in North East Fife will be £86 (from £82) and ordinary full ticket prices will be £309 (from £294) while restricted will be £252 (from £240). Both the Ordinary and North East Fife tickets are restricted to members of local golf clubs.

The Open Links ticket, which is available to anyone, is not linked to inflation and will be £450 (from £420) for a full ticket and for a restricted ticket it will be £360 (from £340).
