Feddinch golf course plans re-submitted
The Citizen, 7 November 2003
Plans to construct a private golf course at Feddinch Mains,
outside St Andrews have been re-submitted to Fife Council after the initial
application was the subject of an appeal to the Scottish Executive.
The St Andrews International Golf Club (SAIGC) are
responsible for the development of the 40-bedroom hotel and golf complex which
has gone to appeal on the grounds of non-determination.
The reasons behind the appeal rested on the local authority
exceeding the timescale required for a decision on the original planning
application.
One of the main objections to the application came from the
conservation group, Scottish National Heritage, who said that the development
could have a detrimental impact on the landscape.
However, the re-submission has included a more detailed
landscape assessment which has softened the local authority's stance on the
matter, according to Alistair Doig, a development agent working on behalf of
SAIGC.
He said: "I am not happy that it has taken so long to reach
this stage but I am happy that they are happy about it now.
"Our landscape architects put into the planners at Cupar a
new visual and landscape impact report, which showed that there won't be any
negative impact on the area.
"Fife Council are making positive noises about it now, the
wheels are moving slowly, but it is in the hands of the planners."
