Management star appointed to St Andrews Bay
The Citizen, 3 November 2000
One of the most respected names in European hotel management
has been appointed general manager of St Andrews Bay, the new golf resort,
hotel, spa and conference centre being built outside the town.
Stephen Carter (52), who has been involved in the hotel
industry for almost 30 years, will join St Andrews Bay on November 8 from
Cliveden where he was operations director.
He also simultaneously held the position of general manager
at the companys flagship property, the Five Red Star Cliveden House and
Club.
Previously, Stephen was general manager of Edinburghs
Caledonian Hotel and operations director in Scotland of Queens Moat Houses Ltd.
where he oversaw the management of the companys five Scottish hotels
including the Moat House in Glasgow.
St Andrews Bay, which will open its doors at the beginning
of June 2001, is one of the biggest and most ambitious leisure and tourism
projects currently being undertaken in Scotland.
The 520-acre development is situated on a cliff top site
overlooking St Andrews and will feature a 209-bedroom hotel, two championship
golf courses, European spa and state-of-the-art conference facilities.
A spokesman said: When Don and Nancy Panoz first saw
the St Andrews Bay site, they knew instantly that it was the perfect location
to bring our hotel and golf plans to life.
It is already proving to be an excellent decision as
forward booking for conferences and leisure visits are exceptional.
Stephen will add value to what has been achieved to date and help ensure
that Scotland has another business and tourism success story.
