St Andrews Bay awards building project to Fife company

The Citizen, 14 January 2000

Inverkeithing based Muir Construction has been awarded a £1m contract to build two manor homes on behalf of St Andrews Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Conference Centre.

Work on the two-storey properties which will be built alongside the Sam Torrance designed golf course at the resort has already begun, with completion in June this year.

The homes, which can cater for up to eight people, are self-contained but will also be serviced from the hotel when it is completed in April 2001.

lain MacKinnon, Operations Director at St Andrews Bay said, “I am delighted that a Fife based company has won this account confirming our stated policy that investment in this type of project should wherever possible stay in the Kingdom.”

“The manor homes which will be ready for this year’s Open at St Andrews cater for up to eight and will offer all the comforts of home but linked with the facilities of the new development. In the future we plan to build up to another eight of these properties."
