First event at Gateway complex

The £8 million Gateway complex in St Andrews staged its first public event last night as over 250 golf club secretaries from all over the world gathered for a meeting and social event.

The function was held in the top floor of the building, where members of the St Andrews Golfing Society will be able to enjoy five star accommodation and views over the links courses.

The building has not yet officially opened but last night the chief executive of St Andrews International, Geoff Lang, said that it was 98% complete, and it had been decided that the event should proceed.
