Vandals strike at Kingsbarns

A fire, thought to have been started deliberately, has wrecked a mobile toilet block erected for next week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship near Kingsbarns beach.

The incident, in the early hours of last Saturday morning, is thought to have caused thousands of pounds worth of damage.

Firefighters from St Andrews used jet hoses and breathing apparatus to bring the blaze in the wooden toilet block under control.

It was one more in a series of incidents of vandalism in the village, which plays host to the pro-celebrity golf championship which comes to St Andrews Links, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns every year.
