Road drainage work set to cause disruption
The Courier, 26 January 2005
Transport on the main St Andrews-Crail road will be in for
some disruption over the next few weeks as Fife Council undertakes road
drainage works. Yesterday area transportation manager Derek Crowe said the
works have been programmed to minimise inconvenience. He warned there will be
some temporary closures between Kingsbarns and Cambo House Lodge.
He said that where possible alternative public transport
arrangements are being provided and during weekend closure times service 95 bus
journeys will divert from their route between Brownhills Garage and Crail via
the B9131, Drumrack, and B940 in both directions.
For connections in St Andrews northwards from Kingsbarns a
dedicated service will operate between Kingsbarns and St Andrews bus station.
Details will be posted on site and for further information people should
contact Stagecoach on 01334 474238.
Mr Crowe said the provision of a temporary bus link between
Crail and Cambo had proved uneconomic and an arrangement was being made for the
recovery of reasonable costs for these trips. The arrangement will provide for
passengers with connections in Crail southwards from Cambo to claim their taxi
fare (less appropriate bus fare) to be reimbursed subject to submission of
valid taxi receipt and completed application form.
Passengers can obtain the application form by calling 01334
412922 (Monday - Friday from 9 am to 5 pm.) This service will substitute for
the service 95 bus journeys diverted during the closures. Taxis may be called
for trips between Crail High Street, Cambo House Lodge and all bus-stops along
the A917 to connect with any required 95 service bus at Crail High Street
between:
Saturdays - 6.42 am and 11.07 pm to St. Andrews; 7.33 am
and 11.07 pm to Leven.
Sundays - 9.45 am and 5.45 pm to St Andrews; 9.38 am and
5.38 pm to Leven.
Passengers should note that, as this service is a temporary
substitution for the diverted service 95 between Cambo and Crail, taxi pick-up
and set down points will be at the appropriate locations along the A917 and
deviations from this route are not claimable.
Mr Crowe said anyone wishing further information should
contact 01334 412922 during office hours.
The road closures will apply from 7 am on Saturdays until 6
pm on Sundays during the following weekends:
This weekend; February 5-6; February 12-13 February 19-20;
February 26-27; March 5-6; March 12-13. more
