Villagers fight to stop Garvald Hotel becoming house

The fight to save the historic Garvald Hotel from closing forever started in earnest this week, as more than 80 residents turned out to a meeting in the village hall, with local councillor Ludovic Broun-Lindsay and MSP John Home Robertson, in a bid to stop the inn becoming a private house.

The hotel has been closed for almost two years and an application has been lodged with East Lothian Council planning department to have the use changed to that of a private house.
