KINGSBARNS COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Meeting held on 14 July at Kingsbarns Memorial
Hall
PRESENT: Clare Wright, Councillor Douglas, Kate Holy,
Charlotte Kirby, Margo McKee, Mhairi Robertson and 5 members of the public.
Minutes of Previous Meeting - approved and
seconded.
1. Matters Arising
School Bell is now in place.
Dog Litter Bin - New bin arranged by Clare
Wright
Hand Rails at Beach - Cllr Douglas will look into
this matter
Weed Killer/Street Cleaning - Fife Council have been
to do this.
Kingsbarns Festival - It was agreed that the
Festival was successful.
2. Water Treatment Plant
The water authority are proposing to put a new treatment
plant in place which will further improve the quality of water. It will stand
approximately 1 meter above ground level and will not be visible from the
roadway. There were no objections to this proposal. Clare Wright has been in
contact with Scottish Water and asked if they could upgrade the beach toilets
at the same time. Scottish Water said they would be happy for this to happen if
Fife Council could join in with them. CW/MM to write to Fife Council regarding
this.
The water treatment plant proposal was agreed in
principle.
3. Tetra Masts
Cllr Douglas has asked for some unbiased information
regarding these masts and will report back at the next meeting.
4. lain Smith
Mr Iain Smith, MSP, has written to ask if we would like him
to attend one of our meetings. It was agreed that we write and ask him to join
us in November, which would give us time to prepare relevant questions. MM to
do.
5. Police Matters
MM advised on the latest updates from the Police
Newsletter.
6. Fife Womens Aid
MM advised that new contact details were available and a
notice will be put into the Community Council notice board.
7. NHS Board/Hospital
It has been confirmed that the chosen site for the new St
Andrews Hospital is at Largo Road.
8. Any Other Business
Mr Peter Erskine addressed the meeting regarding his
proposal for the houses at Barns Law. In an effort to improve the housing at
Barns Law Mr Erskine would like to upgrade the houses and he outlined the
various options. Mr Erskine felt that the community should be aware of his
plans and hoped that these could be discussed along with any objections there
may be to his proposals. It was agreed that the houses at Barns Law were in
need of upgrading and the plans were approved in principle. Cllr Douglas
suggested that a Planning Department study could be done regarding the way
forward, and he will contact the planners regarding this. Mr Erskine was
thanked for bringing his proposals to the meeting.
9. Date of Next Meeting
The next meeting will be held on Monday 8 September 2003 at
7.30p.m. back to Kingsbarns Community
