Users of Kingsbarns Beach and the adjacent coastal path are
being asked to observe a 'code of conduct for walkers' when in the vicinity of
the new golf course.
Code of conduct posters appeared on signs (at the beach car
park, and at either end of the development) during the official opening
week.
These posters were unceremoniously 'removed' by persons
unknown very soon afterwards.
Fife Ranger Service should consider the fact that their
signs have not been well received here. Fife council have actively promoted our
beach and coastal path and people come here to relax, and to do their own
thing. They do not take kindly to being told to muzzle their children for the
sake of some precious recreational golfers. They do not wish to remain alert at
all times to the state of play on the golf course. Dog owners will not be
amused. Safety should not have been an issue on a new golf course built beside
an established and well promoted beach - buffer zones should have been
provided, even if it meant moving parts of the course inland - onto land as yet
unused by the developer.
Here is the offending code of conduct for walkers (copied
from one of the discarded posters)
